Politics makes strange bedfellows
Saddam Hussein had pals the world over...
Donald Rumsfeld: "We'll have those WMDs over to you as soon as possible, Saddam old pal"
George Galloway MP: "Sir, we salute your courage, your strength, your indefatigability"
Jalal Talabani (now President of Iraq): "You butchered many of my people [the Kurds] but I know you're a nice guy deep down. In any case when you've finally been overthrown I'm going to occupy one of your nice palaces and claim it as my own"
You weren't expecting this one. The camera never lies though! It's a little known fact that Bertie visited Iraq when he was finance minister. I can now reveal that Saddam gave the Bert a dig-out to the tune of 1,707.65 Iraqi Dinars which was used to purchase an anorak in the Backberry Fair market in Rathmines. He didn't give Bertie this money in return for any favours, however, but because Bertie was his friend. A photographer captured this 'show of strength' moment on the balcony of the Presidential Palace in Baghdad. Can anybody think of a caption?

One day I'm gonna find out what exactly you're studying, maybe you're an eternal student like me!
Did Bertie actually visit Iraq, or was that part of your satire?
good to meet an optimist

No particular time period, you could probably just as easily call it international politics. It's very interesting and covers a huge range from international law to elections to development.....
I don't think there is any html link!
You mentioned the Zen thing before. Sounds interesting... and don't you have a nice spliff and a beer afterwards too?;)

very interesting, particularly in the light of recent events in Ireland.
Mid-East is the biggie.
you'll probably desire a job in conflict resolution, but end up as a psychiatric nurse working with the fall-out from conflict ;)
I been trying to get jo to change her career into exactly that.
yeah with the Zen, spliffs are good, but honestly thats part of the process and distinct from the equations, the grammer, the syntax one is looking to resolve.
pot is a social thing, not the Way
The real work happens at "the still point of the turning mind" so to speak where to strive is to surrender.
( The Not-me "I") has nearly arrived at the state of Enlightenment, expect this year certainly..like a graduation really ;)
after that I've a few scalps to take , b4 heading to Belfast to wrap up this UI thing.
Then go for a holiday :)
Got it all figured out lol

A job in conflict resolution? That might be nice!
Aren't you coming to Belfast this summer? You're going to be busy until then...:) and are you going to wrap up this UI thing on this visit or will we have to wait?!
